He Kākano, meaning seed, symbolises growth, renewal, and potential.
Within every business owner lies the seed of possibility, and with the right knowledge, structure, and guidance, that seed can take root and flourish.
At WE Accounting, our He Kākano programme was created to nurture that growth, building both the capability and confidence of Māori and Pasifika business owners across Aotearoa.
Two Pathways: Advisory and Training
Over the years, He Kākano has evolved into our flagship programme that supports business growth through strategy, planning, and financial visibility.
To ensure accessibility through the Regional Business Partner Network (RBPN), we now offer two distinct pathways:
- He Kākano Advisory – a tailored, hands-on service for businesses seeking one-to-one strategic and financial support.
- He Kākano RBPN Training – a management capability training programme, this version focuses on upskilling you to do it yourself. Teaching you the tools, knowledge, and frameworks to manage, measure, and drive your own business growth.
- Services such as Xero training, accountability coaching and general consultancy are not eligible under this programme.

Why This Matters
For many Māori and Pasifika business owners, the biggest challenge isn’t passion — it’s process. He Kākano bridges that gap by teaching you how to turn intent into strategy, and numbers into decisions.
This is about building capability, not dependency, empowering you to manage your own growth, strengthen your financial literacy, and lead with confidence.
Grounded in kaupapa Māori values, He Kākano honours mana motuhake (self-determination), whanaungatanga (connection), and the collective success of our people. When one business grows strong roots, it uplifts the whole community.
